Welcome to my new blog!
Most of what you will find in future posts will have to do with my work in my MA program. I decided to go back to school for an MA in Educational Technology. After a lot of research, I finally found a great program through SDSU that I could do completely online. I have never taken a course online prior to beginning the program last fall, but so far it has not been too difficult a transition from traditional classroom learning. Although I admit I have had to work on my self-discipline, that's for sure.
For the past two years I have not worked in the classroom, but instead chose to stay home to raise my daughter. It was a HUGE change for me to not work, but I wouldn't trade the time I've had with her for anything. I will be going back to work in the fall, which is exciting and kind of sad at the same time. Prior to leaving work, I was teaching at La Contenta Middle School in Yucca Valley, CA as an 8th grade physical science teacher. I never thought I'd like teaching physical science, since I'm a bio girl, but it was actually a pretty cool subject to teach. Hopefully I'll get a position in a life science or biology class, but I wouldn't mind teaching physical science again.
I'm very excited for what the future will hold when I complete my MA program. At this point I think I want to stay in the K12 world, but who knows!
